Brooke’s Media Blog

Exploring Patterns of New Media Culture

All About Brooke

Me!

Hello, everyone!  My name is Brooke and I have created this blog as a component to a seminar in New Media Culture that I am taking at Northeastern University.  I am a senior this year and as I am approaching my spring graduation, I am looking forward to pursuing a career in public relations and event planning.

Throughout my education at Northeastern, I have become fascinated with how new media technologies and the emergence of cybertechnologies have transformed the patterns in which people consume media and are shaping the face of media for the future.

As noted by media scholar, Henry Jenkins, society is operating within a convergence culture.  Within these pages, I aim to pay close attention to all topics and discussions related to these ideas while also providing textual and contextual analysis of contemporary forms of media and programming.

The Internet along with the emergence of other new media technologies have expanded the knowledge platform by providing a number of outlets for people to access information.  My ultimate goal is to explore many of these different media outlets throughout the semester and relate them to my thoughts on new media culture.
